It was at this point that I learned that these drives have a notoriously bad/loose default cable that disconnects if you look at it wrong. upon plugging it in to a more direct USB slot, it was. Upon plugging the drive in it was initially not seen. My initial action was to simply plug the drive into my computer to see if it would be recognized and begin diagnosing from there. he is a Windows 10 PC User with very little tech knowledge, so, I have to assume that he left this drive as it was when he purchased it and didn't do any sort of reformatting. His drive is a 1TB Seagate BUP Slim BK SCSI Disk. Here is the scenario and what I have done thus far along with the results as best as I could document and/or remember. and have only ever met one drive I couldn't somehow wrangle back to life, but, this one is thus far beyond my scope. Now, I am 20+ years into computer admin etc. The day before he was to go back home, he arrived at my home with the disk that he had been backing up all of his photos to and said "it won't show up on the desktop anymore. Okay, so, my friend saved up and brought his family from Japan to spend three months traveling coast to coast documenting the US skate scene. Thank you in advance to anyone who can assist me on this.
